AKZIDENZ-GROTESK TYPOGRAPHIC POSTER
For this project, we were randomly assigned a font and tasked to create an A2 typographic poster based on our research about it. I found that the common method of printing in the 19th century was letterpress printing, where one would compose and lock movable type into the "bed" or "chase" of a press, ink it, and press paper against it to transfer the ink from the type, which creates an impression on the paper. The movable type was usually constructed using lead, antimoney and tin, and I wanted to visualise its creation in my poster.
